This strike plate was screwed into the handle side plate on the early International reels. It appears that the strike buttons would hit on it or it was just meant to help keep them in place.
Penn discontinued the part because it really wasn't necessary for it to be there, and it wasn't on all the production runs of the original international reels. It wasn't on later generations of Penn international reels at all.
Penn did not assign a part number to it, so it would be considered non-serviceable and part of the handle side plate on the reels.
To our knowledge, any of these reels may have had this part:
20, 30, 50, 50W, 80, 80W, 130, 130H
They might be a couple of sizes, but would be just long enough to run under all the strike buttons depending on the model size.
I've included customers photos here from the Int 50 and Int 130 reels, just to help people to identify the part if they find it on a reel.
SCREW FOR SPRING also has no Penn part number on file anywhere
