Gears and Washers: With a massive stainless steel main gear and a heat treated pinion gear, the gear train in the US Senator family is built to stand up to anything, commercial use included. Inside that massive main gear is Penn's proprietary lubed HT-100 Versa Drag system.
Machined Frame: Unique to the Senator family, the US Senators have a fully machined aluminum frame to keep the internal parts in perfect alignment for long term durability. No frame posts and no graphite frames.
Live Spindle: The revolutionary Live Spindle™ design by Penn enables the US113 series of reels to be the most castable reels in the Senator Family. The improved configuration allows the spool to spin independently of the spindle and pinion gear, which significantly reduces friction experienced from the extreme acceleration of the spool when casting. Other reels using a "fixed spindle" design slow the rotation of the spool and reduce casting distance. Additionally the Live Spindle improves the retrieve of the reel because the spindle and pinion gear do not need to turn relative to each other during heavy loads, unlike "fixed spindle" reels that result in a difficult retrieve and erratic drag.

If you do not find what you are looking for do a Google search with Mystic Reel Parts in the search with your model. I have a Penn 285 and 9 and it took me to the exact page for both. Also have the reel schematics.

I luckily found MysticParts via a Google search. Their website is comprehensive and I was at a loss on what I needed. Fortunately the “contact us” option was user friendly. To my delight I got a personalized and VERY helpful response right away. She asked questions to fully understand my needs and then followed up with links to the right parts. We continued our email exchange regarding my second reel issue and, again, she was extremely knowledgeable and gave me both practical as well as professional solutions.
